About the Study:
Free 8‑Week Cognitive Training for Hitters I’m conducting a doctoral research study at the University of Western States to better understand how hitters think at the plate—specifically, attentional errors, decision‑making, processing speed, and how hitters feel about these during hitting performance. We’re using a perceptual‑cognitive training tool that has been shown in research to improve processing speed, working memory, attention, and decision‑making in athletes and other performers.
What the Study Involves: 8‑week cognitive training program 2 Cognitive training sessions per week with interview All sessions held virtually via Zoom Total time commitment: about 30-50 minutes per week, including training, scheduling and interviews) Zoom gives us a lot of flexibility so we can work around practice, school, games, and travel.
Who We’re Looking For: 12–24 hitters OR a Team Fastpitch softball hitters willing to commit to the full 8‑week study Access to a computer or tablet and reliable internet for Zoom sessions (Coaches who want to enroll a team are especially welcome)
What You Get: 8 weeks of cognitive training at no cost A cool goodie bag for participating hitters An optional feedback session at the conclusion of the study to review results Coaches and families also gain insight into how cognitive training can support on‑field performance with minimal time demands.
